The Absollagen package is a brilliant anti-ageing treatment for improving skin tone and texture, minimising fine lines and wrinkles and boosting collagen production to give a glowing and healthy complexion.

The combined Absollagen treatment can also help rosacea and redness, brown spots and pigmentation.

During the procedure, a combination of microdermabrasion, glycolic acid and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) are used to increase collagen production in the face and neck.

Who is suitable for the procedure?

A very popular procedure with patients, we have found that the best results for Absollagen are in patients who have already started the ageing process and those who have a significant amount of environmental damage to their skin.

What does the procedure involve?

The first part of the Absollagen procedure starts with a general cleansing and light exfoliation. This is to remove dead skin cells which in turn will help to deliver astringents deeper into the skin. The microdermabrasion will bring warmth to the skin by stimulating circulation.

30% Glycolic peel is applied and left on the skin for a few minutes before being neutralised. The tiny molecules in the alpha hydroxy acid cut through dirt and sebum and absorb into the deeper layers of the skin. This then creates further heat, giving a false sense of trauma to the skin, ready for new cells to be made.

The final part of the procedure uses IPL. A yellow light (commonly known as photo rejuvenation) is used to increase the collagen production in the skin while the skin is at temperature and cells are active.

The procedure concludes with a hydrating mask, drenched in hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid helps to retain water within the cells of the skin, making it the most hydrating acid you can use on the skin.

What is collagen?

Collagen is a group of proteins found in the dermis (the thick layer of living tissue containing blood capillaries, nerve endings, sweat glands, hair follicles and other structures). Collagen is the essential building block of skin cells. Along with fibroblasts, it acts as a framework that keeps the skin firm and supple.

From the minute we are born, our body naturally produces all the collagen it needs. As we age, collagen production naturally decreases.

Women naturally produce less collagen than men and will lose a significant amount of collagen by the time they reach the age of 50.
