Sculptra Treatment

What conditions can be treated with Sculptra?

Sculptra is a long-lasting filler which smoothes out deep lines and wrinkles and restores lost facial volume, giving the face a more full, firm and youthful appearance.

It produces a gradual and very natural looking result which has been proven to last for up to 3 years after the final treatment. It is sometimes referred to as the liquid facelift.

About Sculptra

As we age, the amount of collagen that the body produces starts to slow down and as this is the substance that gives our skin a fuller, more youthful looking face, deeps lines and wrinkles appear and the face becomes thinner and more narrow, depressions start to show in areas such as the temples – this makes you appear older.

Sculptra is completely different from the other types of facial filler. Rather than attracting water, like hyaluronic acid, Sculptra causes an irritation under the skin that makes the body produce more collagen.

In contrast to the hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra not only gives a filling effect, but due to the collagen production, also causes a tightening and a lifting.

Therefore Sculptra is not injected under the wrinkles and folds, but is injected deeply under the skin so it lays around the temples, on the cheekbones and jawline, not only replacing volume that has been lost due to age but also providing a lift – effectively being a 'non-surgical facelift'.

What does Sculptra feel like?

A numbing cream is applied to the face, approximately 30 minutes prior to treatment. As with all injections, patients may experience some discomfort and experience a brief 'burning' sensation in the area where the Sculptra has been injected. A clinician is always present during a treatment and works alongside the Doctor, immediately applying ice packs to the injected area to reduce any discomfort. A firm massage is performed post treatment to the treated area.

How quickly will I see results and how long will they last?

As Sculptra relies on collagen production, its effects are only seen slowly. Generally, patients need three sessions on average, each one being four to six weeks apart. The full effects are then only seen some three to six months after the last injection.
