I had Laser Lipolysis and would highly recommend this to anyone. The procedure itself was pain free, post surgery there was very little discomfort at all and the results are amazing! From the first consultation through to a post surgery check, I have been given the highest possible care and attention. The whole team who looked after me (Mr. Whiteley, Vicki, Jules & June) could not have done more to make me feel at ease and ensure that I was relaxed.
I am having other cosmetic treatments at the clinic, as I have complete faith in their technology and knowledge. Lovely Linda - keep those appointments coming!

LipoSonix is currently used to treat the tummy (abdomen) and ‘love handle’ area. It is a perfect treatment for those small stubborn areas that will not shift with exercise.
LipoSonix is a non–invasive procedure which uses high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) to destroy fat and fat cells, deep under the skin. HIFU focuses a powerful ultrasound on one point, deep under the skin. The energy penetrates the deep fatty tissue (adipose tissue) and destroys it. At this point, the fat cells are destroyed and the fat is melted. The body then removes the dead cells and the liquid fat over a period of 8-12 weeks.
The LipoSonix procedure is different from many other fat reduction treatments available. It is one of the few techniques that is non-invasive, meaning not only is there no downtime but it is also a ‘one off’ treatment whereas other non-invasive techniques require a number of treatments to see results.
Prior to treatment there will be a consultation with a clinician who will assess whether you are a suitable candidate for the procedure. Suitable candidates are those who have combined this treatment with healthy eating and exercise and have found it difficult to shift any remaining stubborn weight.
Prior to the treatment, patients have an ultrasound scan to help determine the depth of the adipose tissue in the area to be treated. They are then are weighed, measured and have a series of photographs taken. The weights, measures and photographs are then used as ‘markers’ for post procedure follow up assessments.
During the actual treatment, the LipoSonix machine is programmed to move the ultrasound beam in a set way, melting a row of fat cells about 1cm high and 3cm long and 3cm wide. The Clinician then moves the LipoSonix head to treat the next section of fat, and so on until a whole layer of fat in the target area is melted.
The whole procedure usually takes about 1 – 1½ hours but this can sometimes vary according to the size of the area being treated.
Patients that are not suitable for treatment are those who have less than 1cm depth of adipose tissue (fat) in the area to be treated. In addition there are several other contraindications eg. pregnancy or blood clotting disorders but these would be discussed in detail during your initial consultation.
Depending on the area being treated, the LipoSonix treatment can cause some patient discomfort. We advise that patients take some painkillers prior to their procedure and, because we are a medical clinic, we are able to provide stronger medication during the procedure should the patient request it. Patients may experience some mild pain (normally described as a prickling, warm discomfort).
After the procedure a compression garment is worn for seven days and nights to support the treated area.
There may be some tenderness in the area (a feeling very similar to sun-burn) but this sensation disappears over the following three to four days.
It is quite common to experience bruising to the treated area, temporary redness and a mild inflammatory response which are all natural responses to ‘trauma’ to the body. Any of these responses will disappear over the following few days.
LipoSonix works after one treatment and on average you can expect to see a 2.8cm reduction in waist circumference which is the equivalent to one dress size for ladies or one belt notch for men. Most people see maximum results in approximately 3 month. This is the time it takes for the body to naturally remove the destroyed fat tissue.
If you do not put on any more weight, the fat has been destroyed and stays away. However, if you do put weight on, then fat will accumulate in all areas including the areas treated.
One of the beauties of LipoSonix is that there are no scars. As such, it can be repeated in the future if it is ever needed.
