I have very sensitive skin and was intermittently suffering with redness and flushing to my face, especially when I used moisturiser. I had a skin consultation with Vicki at Absolute Aesthetics and started using the Agera skincare range. I noticed an immediate improvement in the condition of my skin and the redness and flushing has not returned. This is the first time I have ever been able to use a moisturiser with an SPF factor (25).
I also had one Microdermabrasion session and the difference was amazing – it dramatically reduced the blackheads around my nose and chin and the skin looks and feels less 'congested'. ![]()

Agera® skin peels can be used on all skin types and colours, offering an effective way to treat ageing skin and acne, as well as to reduce sun damage and hyper-pigmentation that many people worry about.
In modern life, sun-damage and air pollution - particularly cigarette smoke - causes the skin to thicken and become dull from a build up of dead skin cells. These are a cause of blocked skin pores. Many people combine their Agera® skin peels with microdermabrasion to achieve optimal results.
Agera® peels are specifically designed to treat the deeper layers of the skin without leaving the surface inflamed or irritated. By targeting the deeper layers, Agera® peels claim to offer greater performance than standard high street peels, which tend to act more superficially.
Agera® skin peels are very safe. However, like any treatment there are contra-indications and a small risk of complications. Therefore at Absolute Aesthetics, all clients have a consultation with a clinician during which they can discuss the treatment and any questions that might arise.
The pre-treatment consultation with the clinician should not only explain the treatment, but should inform the client what they should expect both during and after the treatment.
The actual treatment is performed in one of our treatment rooms. Making the client comfortable, a headband will be applied and the skin will be cleaned. The Clinician will then prepare the skin with different products, and eye shields will be applied.
The number of treatments needed will depend on the clients skin type and what they want to achieve from the treatment. Generally a course of 5 treatments is recommended, with or without Medical Microdermabrasion depending on the condition of the skin, although this may vary.
Once this has been done, the Agera® peel will be carefully applied over the areas to be treated. Water is then needed to activate the ingredients of the peel. Cold wet gauze is applied to the client's face leaving the nose free for breathing.
When the peel is working, the skin becomes reddened and itchy. As the peel finishes, the sensation passes. Once the Clinician is happy with the results they will remove the wet gauze, gently wipe over the face with clean dry gauze and remove the eye shields.
If the client is having a combined treatment (Agera® skin peel and Medical Microdermabrasion) the Medical Microdermabrasion would then be performed at this stage. If not, moisturisers will be massaged into the skin and then the treatment would be complete.
After the first treatment the skin may feel warm and look rosy. The skin may even feel slightly dry for the first day; however, the skin should feel softer, smoother and look a lot healthier.
When the client leaves the Clinic, their skin should be reddened, looking similar to someone who is just leaving the gym after a work-out. However, it should not be flaky or irritated. Although the client's skin does not actually shed a layer as it would with a medical peel - such as an Obagi Blue or TCA peel, they will need to wear sun screen for the first two days to reduce over sensitivity.
Agera® peels come in different strengths. To produce optimal results, the clinician will assess the client's skin and choose an appropriate strength of peel. This will then be increased in strength as the client's skin tolerates it.
The Agera® peel by itself usually takes approximately 30 minutes. If combined with Medical Microdermabrasion then both treatments combined will take about 1 hour in total.
The number of treatments needed will depend on the client's skin type and what they want to achieve from the treatment. Generally a course of 5 treatments is recommended, with or without Medical Microdermabrasion depending on the condition, although this may vary.
