Xanthelasma is a build-up of yellow cholesterol deposits found on the skin surrounding the eye area, more often near the corner of the eye. It is not harmful but once established, tends to remain and in some cases, gradually grow in size. It is more commonly found in women and the cause is often linked to a lipid (fat) imbalance in the body.
