About Sebaceous Cysts

Sebaceous cysts are small lumps or bumps just under the surface of the skin. They are closed sacs that contain a ‘cheesy’ looking protein called ‘Sebum’ that often has a rather unpleasant odour. They can be found on most areas of the body although more commonly on the scalp, ears, face, torso and back. They are unlikely to be found on the soles of the feet or hands.
